August 30, 2017

Marilyn Gladu (MP, Sarnia-Lambton) is pleased to announce she has been invited by Andrew Scheer, Leader for the Conservative Party of Canada to serve as the Shadow Minister of Health as part of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, commencing immediately.  Previously, Ms. Gladu served as the Science Critic under interim-leader Rona Ambrose.

“I’m honoured to play a leading role in our Shadow Cabinet, and look forward to working in a cooperative, productive manner with my counterparts on the critical issues facing our Canadian Healthcare system. This appointment recognizes my advocacy on issues important to health, such as my private member’s legislation C-277 on palliative care (which received unanimous support in the House of Commons,) my support for mental health issues, and my strong voice on the opioid drug crisis impacting our nation.”

“Holding the government to account on this important file, as well as working in partnership with the provincial, territorial and indigenous bodies will be a priority going forward.”

“I also wish to thank the numerous stakeholders from the Science community that I worked closely with over the last 22 months in my role as Science Critic, including Minister Kirsty Duncan.  I now look forward to the challenges ahead as Shadow Minister of Health and commit to working hard each and every day for Canadians on issues that fall under my new portfolio.”
