March 07, 2016

MP Marilyn Gladu calls on community to honour those who inspire them by joining #YouAreEmpowerment campaign

(March 8 2016 – Ottawa, ON) Marilyn Gladu, MP for Sarnia-Lambton, & Chair of the Parliamentary Status of Women Committee, today invited Canadians to celebrate International Women’s Day 2016. It is a time to celebrate women’s contributions to our communities, our country and our world. It is also a time to reflect on progress toward equality for women and to reflect on the significant challenges that remain.

Canada’s theme for International Women’s Day 2016Women’s Empowerment Leads to Equality – recognizes the need to empower women and girls as we work together to achieve gender parity. Without empowerment there can be no equality.

"For our community and Country to live up to its full potential, we must ensure equity for all - especially on gender issues. For women and girls, social empowerment is the key to tapping into our true potential.

This International Women's ‎Day I am asking all my followers to tag a woman/girl who inspires you to live up to your own full potential by tagging them, along with the hashtag #YouAreEmpowerment".

From Sarnia-Lambton, MP Gladu is calling attention to the following women she feels play an inspirational role in our Community: Kathleen Mundy, Cindy Scholten, Janice McMichael Dennis, Judy Morris & Warden Bev MacDougall & Sue Storr #YouAreEmpowerment
